Firefighter arrested for hit and run incident in South Carolina

Drunk driving is a serious offense and is something South Carolina police officers are constantly looking out for. A recent hit and run accident, believed to have been caused by a drunk driver, led to the arrest of a local firefighter. The victim, a 14-year-old female, survived, but has been left seriously injured and emotionally traumatized by the incident.

The accident occurred while the teenager was walking home with a group of friends from an event at her local church. One minute she was walking, the next minute her body was flying through the air and ended up in a ditch. Witnesses reported that the car refused to stop, and one of the victim's friends chased the car down the street, later finding the car parked in front of a house. Police were called, and the owners of the car were arrested.

A couple -- a husband and wife in their 50s -- were allegedly out drinking before the accident occurred. Apparently, the wife first took the blame for the incident, afraid that her husband would lose his job, and she was arrested. Through further investigation, the husband was later arrested for supposedly being the driver, and his wife was then facing charges of obstruction of justice. Charges against the driver include felony DUI and hit and run driving.

Drivers accused of a DUI hit and run accident can be left facing felony charges that may have serious consequences in South Carolina. However, those facing charges like this have the right to defend themselves. A strategically planned criminal defense could help those facing these accusations navigate through their criminal proceedings and seek the best possible outcome for their individual situation.
