Violation of federal law in South Carolina drug trafficking case?

A South Carolina task force, headed by the FBI, is constantly on the lookout for violent and gang related crimes in the area. Often, these types of crimes are associated with illegal drug activity. In accordance with state and federal law regarding the possession and distribution of illegal drugs, arrests are sometimes made after such investigations and those accused of this activity could face serious consequences at possibly both the state and federal levels.

Recently, the Violent Gang Task Force arrested a 35-year-old male from Gaston. The man was arrested at his home and, after a search of his property, local authorities supposedly found drugs, scales, excessive amounts of cash and weapons throughout the house. Authorities claim that drugs worth approximately $17,000 were removed from the property.

This arrest was initially made after an investigation of street gangs and drug distributors in the area. The accused is facing charges including possession, intent to distribute and drug-trafficking, just to name a few. There hasn't been any information released on setting bond or upcoming court dates in this matter.

The consequences of a positive conviction in a federal law drug case are serious. Hefty fines, jail and/or prison time along with a public record can all do significant damage to a person's reputation and future prospects. South Carolina residents accused of a crime have the right to be presumed innocent until proven guilty. Having a strong criminal defense can help the accused fight the charges against them and seek the best possible outcome for their specific situation.
