Fatal crash results in felony DUI charge for South Carolina man

A South Carolina man is currently behind bars, waiting for a bond hearing, after a car accident he was involved in resulted in death of one individual. He is facing several charges, one of which is a felony DUI. If prosecutors are able to secure a conviction, the accused could face a number of penalties, which would could include a lengthy prison term.

The accused, a 32-year-old male, was reportedly arrested and booked into a local detention center following an accident. According to police, this individual's SUV crossed into oncoming traffic and struck another vehicle. A passenger in the other car, a 26-year-old male, was killed in the crash.

The accused man was treated at a nearby medical facility before he was booked into jail. Even though this accident is still under investigation, he has been formally charged with a felony DUI resulting in injury and death and open container. Court dates regarding this matter were not reported.

The potential penalties associated with a felony DUI charge can literally be life-altering. In order to help pursue the best possible outcome for this situation, the accused has the right to criminal defense. A number of strategies may be available to help this individual achieve a dismissal of charges or sentencing concessions pursuant to a plea agreement in a South Carolina criminal court.
