Woman charged with felony DUI in fatal South Carolina crash

A young woman was recently charged for her alleged involvement in a crash that resulted in the death of a passenger in her car. The accused was reportedly driving on Interstate 26 in South Carolina when her vehicle is said to have struck the rear end of a semi. She has been charged with a felony DUI for this incident.

According to reports, the accused, a 22-year-old woman from another state, was traveling eastbound on I-26 in Spartanburg when the crash occurred. A passenger in the front seat of the accused's vehicle died at the scene of the collision. The truck driver and accused both walked away uninjured.

Few other details have been reported regarding this incident. It is unknown as to whether the accused is being held by South Carolina authorities or if she has been released on bond. Court dates regarding this specific case have not been reported.

A felony DUI charge is a significant matter which can have severe consequences. The accused in this case -- if convicted -- may face prison time, hefty fines and various other penalties that can drastically alter the course of her young life. As she has so much on the line, a criminal defense attorney may be able to assist her in making the best legal decisions possible throughout her criminal proceedings. With help, she may be able to fight the accusations against her and seek a dismissal or reduction of charges. While being in this position is not easy for anyone, steps can be taken to ensure the rights of the accused are protected and that the best possible outcome is achieved.
