South Carolina teen charged with the sexual assault of a minor

A young man in South Carolina is in pretty hot water with authorities after he was accused of committing a sex crime involving a minor. This individual is now facing a sexual assault charge, which can carry some significant penalties if a conviction is achieved. At his young age, this could drastically alter the course of his life. As such, he may benefit from the services of an experienced criminal defense attorney to help him navigate through his legal proceedings.

An 18-year-old male was recently arrested for his alleged role in the sexual assault of a young girl. According to reports, the accused supposedly forced the girl to perform a sexual act. He is also said to have touched her in an inappropriate manner. The victim is said to be somewhere between 11 and 14 years of age.

The accused has been charged with second-degree criminal sexual conduct involving a minor. Bond was set at $40,000, which was paid and the accused was released from police custody. It is unknown if any further court dates have been scheduled in order to address this case.

Sex crimes against minors are considered very serious offenses in the state of South Carolina. This young man faces jail or prison time, registration on the Sex Offender Registry and various other penalties if he is convicted on this sexual assault charge. Thankfully, he has the right and ability to defend himself with the assistance of legal counsel. An experienced attorney will be able to investigate the claims made against this young man, question any evidence offered in this case and assist the accused in fighting for a dismissal based on any new information that comes to light, or he or she will seek to minimize the potential consequences if a conviction is ultimately achieved.
