Several recent car break-ins have left South Carolina residents worried about their property and police looking for the person responsible. While local authorities have few leads as to whom may be responsible — whether it be one person or several different people — an arrest has been made based on an anonymous tip. The person arrested is entitled to secure a strong criminal defense to help him confront the criminal proceedings.
A 28-year-old man was recently arrested for his alleged connection to the crimes. He is currently being charged with one count of breaking and entering into a vehicle and is being held at a local detention center. His actual involvement in the crime has yet to be confirmed.
He is apparently also considered a suspect regarding several other vehicle breaks-ins in the area. It is reported that all the vehicles that were entered were apparently left unlocked. Some of the items stolen have been recovered. Police are still asking anyone with information regarding the incidents to come forward.
Everyone, in South Carolina or elsewhere, has the right to a good criminal defense when accused of committing a crime. Whether they have a criminal record or not, the right to the presumption of innocence applies to all stages of the legal proceedings. Regardless of the crime they are accused of committing, no conviction can occur unless prosecutors are able to meet a stringent measure of proof regarding each and every element of the specific crime charged. Failing, that, the pending charges must be dismissed.
