An apparent increase of illegal drug activity has local authorities concerned and constantly on the lookout for those involved. Drug-related offenses can carry severe consequences and those accused could face serious charges in drug court. Recently, two men from South Carolina were arrested for their supposed connection with drug trafficking and have charges pending for their alleged involvement.
Both men were arrested last month on heroin charges. During that investigation, their vehicle was taken and a search warrant granted. The men had already been bailed out of jail before drugs were supposedly found in their car.
The men, ages 35 and 38, were both arrested again earlier this month on more drug-related charges, including conspiracy to traffic. The 35-year-old was arrested in Calabash and is being held by Brunswick County. The 38-year-old was arrested by Horry County and is currently being held at a local detention center while waiting to be transferred to Brunswick County.
Being convicted on drug-related charges can have serious effects to a person’s life. Those accused of illegal drug activity could be facing harsh penalties under South Carolina and/or federal laws, including jail or prison time and fines. Anyone facing such charges have the right to seek a strong criminal defense to help them through the drug court process and possibly lessen any negative consequences related to the charges for which they are accused. Unless the prosecution is able to prove involvement in the illegal drug activity, those accused may be able to be exonerated of their charges.
