South Carolina teens facing felony charges for burglary

On Behalf of | Feb 25, 2014 | Criminal Defense

Burglary is considered a very serious offense in South Carolina, which carries harsh penalties for those convicted in a court of law. Those accused of such a crime could face felony charges, and the punishment for a second degree burglary charge can carry a sentence of up to 10 years in prison. Recently, two teens in Florence were arrested for their supposed connection to a home burglary.

Local authorities were called to a possible burglary in progress in Florence County. After police arrived at the scene, two teenagers were supposedly seen running from the home. Both were eventually found and arrested for their alleged involvement in the home burglary. It is unknown if anything was missing or if either teen was in possession of items from the home.

Both teens are currently being held at the local detention center in Florence while waiting for their bond hearings. They have both been charged with second degree burglary. It is unknown if any court dates have been finalized in this matter.

A criminal record that includes felony charges can be damaging to a person’s current and future prospects. If convicted of these charges, both teens could lose up to ten years of their lives to the South Carolina prison system and greatly reduce their chances for future opportunities. Both would benefit from a strategic criminal defense to fight the charges against them. Even if convicted of the alleged crime, the ability to defend themselves may help lessen the consequences to the charges they face.
