South Carolina man facing drunk driving charges after crashing RV

When accidents happen, it is common place for South Carolina police to look into every possible cause of the crash. Single vehicle accidents are no exception to this. The possibility of drunk driving is often the first thing they will attempt to rule out when determining what happened.

Recently, a South Carolina man was arrested shortly after crashing his motor home. The crash occurred on a section of roadway in York County after the driver of the RV lost control of his vehicle and ended up crashing into a nearby ditch. He suffered unspecified head injuries in the incident and was transported to a local medical facility for treatment.

Local law enforcement officers claim this individual failed sobriety tests in the field and refused a Breathalyzer test. They also claim he was combative with hospital staff and attempted to flee law enforcement. He is currently facing unspecified criminal charges for this incident.

Even though a Breathalyzer test was refused by this individual, it appears that drunk driving charges are likely to be among the criminal charges filed against him. The potential consequences of these types of charges vary, based on the severity of the offense and a previous history of DUI incidents, but typically include fines and jail time. The accused in this situation does maintain the right to defend himself in a South Carolina court and to utilize all the tools at his disposal, such as a well-planned criminal defense. Doing so can certainly help as he decides the best course of legal action to pursue in order to seek the best possible outcome for his specific circumstances.
