Woman in South Carolina may face felony charges for child neglect

Sometimes it seems that parents just can’t catch a break. They have hard choices to make and do what they feel they have to for the best interests of their family. For one South Carolina woman, needing to go to work to provide for her family resulted in her arrest and possible felony charges of child neglect.

A 46-year-old woman of North Augusta was recently arrested after her 9-year-old daughter was found alone at a park. The child was questioned by an adult at the park and claimed that she was often dropped off at the park to play while her mother went to work. Authorities were then called to investigate.

Police officers took the little girl to the police station where she was turned over to Social Services. The mother was located shortly after and arrested for child neglect. It is unknown if a bond hearing or any other future court dates have been scheduled for this matter.

Being accused of child neglect can result in serious consequences in South Carolina, including felony charges and possibly the permanent removal of the child from the home. With so much on the line, this individual would most likely benefit from a knowledgeable criminal defense to review every aspect of her case and provide valuable insight regarding the legal proceedings she will soon encounter. It may be necessary to focus on the specific accusations of neglect at hand along with the overall familial circumstances, doing so may produce positive results in this case and help keep this family together.
