An early morning accident in South Carolina resulted in the arrest of the driver believed responsible for the crash. This individual is facing multiple charges for the collision, including a DUI. As DUI offenses are not taken lightly, this man would likely benefit from a strategic criminal defense to fight the charges at hand.
A 35-year-old male reportedly crashed his vehicle into a medical center near the end of February. According to police, this man supposedly lost control of his vehicle, over-corrected and crashed into the building. No injuries were reported as a result of this incident.
The driver was taken into custody shortly after the collision. He is facing charges of driving while impaired and others which have not been specified by authorities. Police have not indicated what substance this individual is accused of using. At this time, court dates regarding this matter have not been reported to the public.
Those who are accused of DUI in South Carolina face a number of potential penalties. These include an automatic license suspension, jail time, fines and court mandated rehabilitation. While cases like this one may seem open and shut, there are multiple defense strategies that may be able to help the accused in court. For instance, questioning the validity of toxicology reports and/or any tests performed by police officers might produce information that may prove beneficial in fighting the charges. As a DUI charge can negatively affect multiple aspects of a person’s life, it is imperative to carefully consider all available legal options — whether that involves fighting the charges or seeking a plea agreement — in the pursuit of the best possible outcome for the situation at hand.
