The life of a South Carolina woman was taken in a terrible accident earlier this month. According to police, the driver of an SUV turned into the path of the victim’s vehicle causing a collision and serious injuries. The woman died a few hours later at a local hospital. An accident like this will affect surviving family members in a number of ways, including financially. It is possible for a victim’s family to seek compensation for any damages incurred as a result of a crash like this one.

Law enforcement officers in Horry Country were alerted to an early morning crash in Myrtle Beach. The driver of an SUV reportedly attempted a left-hand turn, but apparently failed to yield the right of way to oncoming traffic. The victim’s car struck the SUV, injuring a passenger riding with her and both drivers. The victim, a 32-year-old woman, was transported to a hospital with serious internal injuries, but, despite medical care, the injuries were simply too severe to overcome.

The SUV driver and the passenger traveling with the victim were also transported for treatment. Their current conditions are unknown. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is still investigating this incident. It is unknown if any charges will be filed in this case.

After a fatal accident, a victim’s family members may seek compensation by filing a legal claim against the individual believed responsible for their loved one’s death. Wrongful death actions, if successfully litigated in a South Carolina civil court, may result in a monetary judgment. An award such as this can help recover the economic and non-economic damages that may have been suffered by surviving family members as a result of a tragic accident.
