A woman in South Carolina is facing criminal charges for an accident that occurred near the end of March. According to reports, this single-vehicle wreck resulted in the death of one individual. Police believe the driver was impaired at the time of the crash. She is facing a felony DUI charge as a result.

An accident in the northwest portion of the state claimed the life of a 48-year-old male. This individual, along with the driver — a 31-year-old woman — were in a van that apparently left the road, rolled and hit an embankment. The male victim died before he could be transported to a medical facility. The driver was flown to a hospital for treatment.

About a week after the incident, the driver was arrested and charged with a felony DUI. According to reports she is being held at a detention center. Bond has been denied in this specific case.

In South Carolina, a conviction on a felony DUI charge can have life-changing consequences, including significant fines and imprisonment. As any accident that results in death is taken very seriously by authorities, the charge in this case will not be easy to contest, although that does not mean the situation is hopeless. The accused, along with legal counsel, can carefully review and consider all of the legal options available in order to make an informed decision regarding her case. Whether choosing to fight the charge against her or negotiating a plea agreement with the prosecuting attorney, there are options available to help this individual achieve an outcome that serves her best interests.
