Family members of crash victims often sustain significant damages

A motorcycle crash that results in fatality can, understandably, place a great deal of stress on the victim’s family. The emotional and monetary damages can simply seem overwhelming. Those in South Carolina who have lost a loved one in such a crash — if negligence is suspected — may pursue legal claims against the person or persons believed accountable.

Recently, a motorcycle accident on the northwest side of the state claimed the life of one individual. The victim, said to be a 39-year-old male, died in a collision with a pickup truck. At this time, few other details have been released regarding this incident; however, it was reported that the victim died at the scene of the crash.

A 41-year-old male was, reportedly, behind the wheel of the truck at the time of the crash. He, and his two passengers, did not suffer any injuries in the accident. Police are still in the process of investigating this incident. The potential of criminal charges being filed in this case has not been reported.

A fatal crash such as this, and others like it, can create a number of problems for the victim’s surviving family members. Along with grieving the loss of a loved one, the costs associated with the fatality can be astronomical. Funeral expenses, lost benefits and future earnings are often a significant detriment that shouldn’t have to be shouldered alone. Legal claims may be filed in an effort to recoup these and other damages. If negligence is satisfactorily established in a South Carolina court, compensation for any losses deemed recoverable, according to applicable state laws, may be awarded.
