A young man was recently arrested and charged with regard to a crash that resulted in the death of a teenage girl. Police believe that the accused was impaired at the time of the incident. As such, in accordance with the laws of South Carolina, this individual is facing a felony DUI charge.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol arrested a young man following a motorcycle crash that occurred in the early morning hours of Aug. 8. It is believed that this individual somehow lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a fence. A passenger on the bike, a 19-year-old female, died soon after impact. The driver was transported to a medical facility with relatively minor injuries.
After receiving treatment, the accused was transported to the Lexington County Detention Center. According to the most recent report, this individual is still in police custody. It is unknown if bond has been set in his case or if any court dates have been scheduled regarding this matter.
A felony DUI conviction could have life-altering consequences for this gentleman. Potential penalties for this type of charge include imprisonment and fines — among numerous others. Criminal proceedings can be intimidating and confusing, and no one should have to face such difficult circumstances alone. The accused in this particular case will, more than likely, benefit from the assistance of an experienced criminal defense attorney who will know what questions to ask, what evidence requires further review and which legal strategies may produce the best possible outcome for the situation at hand.
