On Behalf of | Sep 8, 2015 | Car Accidents

Law enforcement officials in South Carolina are currently investigating a recent accident involving a school bus. At this time, they believe that the bus driver was responsible for the collision. Car accidents such as this are also subject to investigation by the school district, as transportation safety is of high priority.

According to a recent news report, the driver of the school bus apparently failed to stop at a stop sign, supposedly because she did not feel she would be able to stop in time. Instead, she is said to have sped up, in hopes of beating the cross traffic to the intersection. Unfortunately, the bus hit a car, injuring the vehicle’s driver. The current condition of this individual has not been reported. Thankfully, none of the students on board the bus were hurt.

The bus driver was also uninjured in the collision. According to the school district, she will be drug tested and may face suspension or termination. Police have not indicated if any criminal charges will be filed in this case.

The laws of South Carolina allow victims of such car accidents to seek compensation for any losses suffered. In this case, the injured driver may file a personal injury claim in an effort to seek remuneration for any monetary losses, pain and suffering, mental anguish and for any other damages deemed recoverable in accordance with applicable laws. Legal claims may be filed against the bus driver and the school district. Maximum compensation may be achieved through successful litigation.
