Two people in South Carolina were recently arrested for their alleged involvement with a meth lab. According to reports, police received information about a possible meth lab in a home in Sumter County. As state law does not take drug manufacturing lightly, both of these individuals stand to face some serious consequences if they are convicted.
A 35-year-old male and a 24-year-old female, were arrested after their home was searched by authorities who say they received an anonymous tip about drug activity at the house. Officers claim to have found evidence of drug manufacturing. They also say a young child was in the house. The 5-year-old boy has since been placed in protective custody. The child’s relationship to the accused was not reported.
Both of the accused were taken into custody on Sept. 3, and charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia possession and child endangerment. Both individuals are being held at a the county detention center. It was not reported if court dates have been put on record for either case.
If convicted of the charges filed against them, according to South Carolina state law, the accused stand to face imprisonment, hefty fines and the loss of privileges with regard to the child — if either or both is the parent or guardian. With so much on the line, it is reasonable to believe that each individual will want legal counsel that is ready to fight the charges and seek the best outcome possible for the situation. Several defense strategies may be utilized in the effort to achieve just that and to help the accused maintain any existing parental rights concerning the child.
