South Carolina car accidents: 4 injured, 1 dead in collision

On Behalf of | Oct 22, 2015 | Car Accidents

Authorities in South Carolina are currently investigating a multi-vehicle collision that occurred mid-October. The incident apparently began when a car driven by a teenager crossed into oncoming traffic and struck another vehicle. Car accidents of this nature tend to have tragic outcomes, as was true in this case.

According to a recent report, an 18-year-old woman was driving her automobile eastbound on the I-26 in Spartanburg when, for reasons unknown, she crossed over into the westbound lanes and struck the front end of a pickup truck. A third vehicle was unable to avoid the wreckage and struck the teen’s car. The young woman died at the scene of the accident. The driver of the truck and three people in the third car were injured and transported to a medical facility for treatment.

At this time, police have not indicated what may have led to the accident. The results of a forensic exam on the teenage driver are still pending. This investigation is still ongoing.

It is truly unfortunate that someone so young had to lose her life in such a tragic way and that others were hurt in the process. Car accidents that result in injuries can take a devastating toll on the victims. Even though the driver believed responsible for this incident did not survive, those injured do have the right to seek compensation for their losses by pursuing legal claims against her estate and/or against any separate owner of the vehicle she drove. A personal injury claim that is managed successfully may result in an award of economic and non-economic damages ordered by a South Carolina court.
