In South Carolina, the cause of a head-on collision that occurred in the northwest portion of the state is currently under investigation. Car accidents of a similar nature tend to have tragic outcomes. In this particular case, one man was killed and another injured.

According to reports, a 55-year-old male was driving westbound on SC 127 when his vehicle crossed the centerline and struck the front-end of another car. It is believed that this individual was not wearing his seat belt. Sadly, he died at the scene of the accident.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 66-year-old male, survived the incident, but he was injured. He was transported to a hospital for treatment. At this time, his current condition is unknown.

Currently, the reason as to why the deceased individual’s car crossed the centerline is unknown. A full investigation into the cause of this crash may take some time. Police have yet to indicate if anything in particular contributed to the cause of this collision.

When drivers who are thought responsible for car accidents do not survive, victims may still have legal recourse. In this particular case, the victim may file a personal injury claim in a South Carolina civil court against the decedent’s estate in an effort to recoup his losses. Taking legal action, if it is done so successfully, may result in the victim receiving maximum compensation for the numerous losses that often accompany a car crash, such as various medical expenses, rehabilitation costs, disability payments, lost income and even relief for his physical and emotional pain and suffering.
