On Behalf of | Feb 6, 2016 | Car Accidents

A South Carolina woman is accused of causing a two-vehicle crash that resulted in injuries to herself and two others. Head-on car accidents, such as this one, are fairly common, and the damages suffered by the victims and/or their loved ones can be severe. In this particular case, the victims retain the right to seek compensation for any losses they have experienced as a direct result of this crash.

According to a local report, the morning of Jan. 26, a 20-year-old woman was allegedly driving while impaired when she crossed the centerline and struck a pickup truck head-on. A couple in the truck was taken to a nearby hospital via ambulance for treatment. The other driver was flown to the same hospital via helicopter. The extent of the injuries each of these individuals suffered is unknown.

The road on which this incident occurred was closed for several hours for emergency personnel, investigators and clean up crews to work the scene. As of the latest report, police were still unsure whether drugs or alcohol caused the accused’s alleged impairment. She has been charged with DUI and other charges may yet be filed in this case.

Car accidents that result in injury occur far too frequently in South Carolina and across the country. Many of these are caused by allegedly impaired drivers. Those who have been hurt in such incidents may have legal recourse. In this specific case, the victims may file personal injury claims against the driver believed responsible. If this individual is found to have been negligent in her actions, the victims may be awarded monetary sums for all of their legally recoverable losses.
