South Carolina man facing felony DUI charge after auto collisions

A South Carolina man was recently arrested for his alleged involvement in not just one, but two auto collisions on Feb. 4. Authorities claim that this individual was driving while impaired when he hit one vehicle, fled the scene, then struck another — leaving several people injured and in need of medical care. The accused has been charged with felony DUI and numerous other charges.

According to a local report, these collisions occurred in North Myrtle Beach. The accused, a 60-year-old male, is said to have collided with a car at around 3:30 p.m., at 37th Avenue South, then a short time later struck another vehicle at 8th Avenue South and Highway 17. Witnesses claim that the accused removed himself from his car after the second crash, stumbled and laid on the side of the road until police arrived. It has also been reported that speeding may have been a factor in these collisions.

The accused was booked into a local detention center the day after these accidents occurred. He is charged with having an open container of alcohol in his vehicle, not having a driver’s license, hit-and-run and felony DUI. Bond has been set in his case at just over $30,000.

The list of allegations and charges against the accused is quite extensive. If convicted on the felony DUI and other charges filed, he stands to lose quite a bit, as the consequences handed down by a South Carolina criminal court can be life-altering. As he has so much on the line, seeking experienced legal counsel to assist with his case would most likely be in his best interests.
