A man in South Carolina was recently arrested for his alleged involvement in a fatal car crash. Authorities claim that this individual left the scene shortly after the incident. He has been charged with causing a hit and run and various other offenses.

This particular incident is said to have taken place on Feb. 23, in Marlboro County. According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the driver of a school bus was critically injured after a car ran a stop sign and hit a pick up, causing the pick up to strike the bus. The driver of the car — a 23-year-old male — allegedly fled the scene but was promptly located and arrested.

The bus driver — a 69-year-old male — was transported to a medical center for treatment. Sadly, he later succumbed to his injuries. Due to the death of the victim, the charges against the accused were upgraded to a hit and run resulting in death and reckless homicide. It is unknown if a court date has been scheduled regarding this matter.

Under South Carolina laws, the felony hit and run charge filed in this case can carry significant penalties. The accused, if convicted, may face a lengthy imprisonment, among other consequences, if he is convicted. As his future is on the line, this individual would most likely benefit from the services offered by an experienced criminal defense attorney who will work diligently to investigate the case, review all offered evidence, fight to protect the rights of the accused and seek to achieve an outcome that is in his best interests.
