On Behalf of | Mar 28, 2016 | Felonies

A South Carolina man has been arrested and charged for his alleged involvement in a fatal car crash. He is facing a felony DUI charge as a result. According to reports, bond has been denied in this case.

On Sunday, March 20, a 25-year-old male was driving his vehicle on a local roadway in Florence when, for reasons unknown, his vehicle allegedly struck the car of a 37-year-old woman. The woman is said to have died at the scene of the crash, while the accused was uninjured in the wreck. Authorities are still in the process of investigating this incident.

A day after the accident, a judge denied bond in this case. It is unknown if any further court dates have been scheduled regarding this matter. Authorities have also not indicated at which detention facility the accused is being held. Additionally, investigators have not indicated what substance the accused is believed to have had in his system at the time of this collision. Toxicology reports and the results of any field sobriety tests have not been released.

A felony DUI charge will not be treated lightly in a South Carolina criminal court. This individual is likely to face a long, uphill legal battle as he fights to secure an outcome that suits his best interests. An experienced criminal defense attorney may be able to help with this cause by reviewing any evidence offered in this case, questioning the validity of any sobriety tests performed and fighting to protect the rights of the client. While cases such as this are not easy to tackle, the best possible outcome may be achieved with the right assistance.
