Police in South Carolina recently arrested the man that they believe is responsible for sexually assaulting a young girl. The alleged sexual assault is said to have taken place earlier this year in the Myrtle Beach area. The accused has been charged with criminal sexual conduct with a minor.

According to reports, Myrtle Beach police arrested a 20-year-old male who has been identified as the man who molested a child. The alleged attack occurred Jan. 9, at an apartment complex located on Spivey Avenue. A woman who lives at the complex claims that the child told her what happened and that she confronted the man about the incident. Authorities were called, but the accused is said to have fled into the woods nearby.

The accused was booked into Myrtle Beach Jail on March 22. It is unknown if bond has been set in his case. It has also not been reported if any court dates have been scheduled regarding this matter.

The sexual assault of a child is a serious criminal offense in South Carolina. The accused in this case could face a number of consequences if he is convicted — such as imprisonment, fines and having his name placed on the Sex Offenders Registry. Any of these things could have severely negative consequences on his future. With the assistance of legal counsel, this individual may be able to fight the accusations against him, and/or work with prosecuting attorneys to negotiate a plea agreement in the hopes of seeking a reduction in charges and lighter sentencing.
