A recent fatal collision in South Carolina has claimed the lives of two women. This incident is said to have occurred in the Longs area. Police say that one of the drivers crossed the center line, causing the crash. In this case, surviving family members of the victim may be entitled to pursue a wrongful death claim in an effort to seek damages.

According to reports, this car accident occurred the morning of April 4, on Highway 348. The driver of an SUV was driving eastbound when her vehicle was struck head-on by another car that was heading westbound and had crossed the center line. Both drivers — women, ages 26 and 47 — died as a result of their injuries. The 26-year-old died at the scene of the crash, while the 47-year-old died later at a hospital.

Authorities did not specify which woman was driver which vehicle. It is also unclear as to why the driver responsible crossed into oncoming traffic. The investigation into this matter is still ongoing.

Even though both parties died in this wreck, the surviving family members of the victim may be able to pursue legal claims against the estate of the driver deemed responsible. By filing a wrongful death claim, family members of the deceased may seek compensation for the economic and non-economic damages that they have personally sustained as a result of the this terrible tragedy. It may also be possible to for them to seek relief for any losses the victim herself would have suffered by pursuing survival actions in a South Carolina civil court.
