A two-vehicle car crash in South Carolina is currently being investigated by authorities in Lexington County. The wreck occurred during the afternoon of May 22. Three people are said to have suffered injuries in the accident, while the driver believed responsible did not survive. Car accidents with outcomes such as this are quite common and leave the victims with a number of physical, financial and emotional challenges to overcome. According to state laws, those injured in this crash may be entitled to seek compensation in civil court for any damages they have sustained.

According to reports, the South Carolina Highway Patrol responded to a head-on collision that occurred on Gardners Terrace Road. It is believed that a northbound vehicle was struck when a southbound car crossed the center line. The driver and passenger in the northbound car were both injured and transported to an area hospital for treatment. Their current conditions are unknown.

The driver of the southbound automobile died at the scene of the crash. A passenger in that same vehicle was injured and taken to the hospital for care. At this time, police are unsure as to what led to the collision.

Even though the individual deemed responsible for this wreck did not survive the incident, the victims — including the passenger in the decedent’s car — may have legal recourse. When car accidents end in this manner, each of injured may pursue personal injury claims against the estate of the deceased. Those claims that are litigated successfully in a South Carolina civil court may achieve monetary judgments for all recoverable losses.
