South Carolina car accidents: 1 killed, 3 injured in wreck

A recent auto accident in South Carolina is responsible for killing one man and injuring three other people. The individual deemed responsible for this wreck has been charged. When car accidents of this nature occur, surviving victims and the loved ones of the deceased may not know what actions they can take in order to seek compensation for their losses. In accordance with state laws, these individuals may file legal claims against the party believed to have been responsible.

Late in the evening of Aug. 7, a 34-year-old man was driving his vehicle on I-26 in Berkeley County. While in the process of switching lanes, this individual struck another car, causing the driver to lose control and veer off the side of the highway. The impacted car is said to have overturned before coming to a stop. The driver of that vehicle — a 46-year-old male — reportedly died in the accident. Three passengers in his car suffered unspecified injuries and were transported to an area hospital.

The driver deemed responsible for this incident was also injured. His vehicle reportedly left the interstate as well and struck a tree. This individual was initially taken to a hospital for treatment. He has since been charged with a felony DUI.

When car accidents result in deaths and injuries, those negatively impacted can feel a variety of emotions –including sadness, anger and even despair, among others. While nothing can change what has happened, injured victims and surviving family members may find comfort in holding the individual believed responsible fully accountable for the incident. Not only can this be done in a South Carolina criminal court, but it can also be accomplished through filing and successfully litigating civil claims as well. By pursing personal injury, wrongful death and any other applicable claims, compensation can be sought for the various losses experienced as a result of this terrible tragedy.
