Authorities in South Carolina have arrested a man they say led officers on a chase in Lexington County. This individual is now facing several criminal charges that can carry significant penalties if he is convicted. Thankfully, this individual is entitled to representation by an experienced criminal defense attorney, which could certainly assist him in achieving the best outcome possible for his situation.
According to reports, a 38-year-old male was allegedly driving in the wrong lane on Fish Hatchery Road. A South Carolina Highway Patrol trooper apparently attempted traffic stop, but the accused apparently failed to comply. Authorities claim that the accused sped away and eventually crashed his vehicle on the side of the road. He is then said to have exited the car and a foot chase ensued.
Troopers were able to quickly apprehend the man. He is reported to have several outstanding warrants on his record, though what those are for is unclear. The accused was transported and booked into the Lexington Country Detention Center. He is charged with DUI, possession of crack cocaine and failure to stop for authorities.
The accusations in this case are severe and are not likely to be treated lightly in a South Carolina criminal court. If convicted, this individual stands to face imprisonment, fines, loss of driving privileges, court ordered rehabilitation and various other consequences. Fighting the charges in this case will not be easy, and the accused could truly benefit from gaining an understanding of his legal options so that he can make informed decisions regarding the best route to pursue for his situation.
