A South Carolina man is facing charges after he allegedly caused a car accident that resulted in five people suffering injuries, including himself. This incident is said to have occurred in the Aiken area. The accused has been charged with felony DUI on two counts.

According to reports, on the evening of Saturday, Dec. 17, the accused — a 51-year-old male — was involved in a collision on Rudy Mason Parkway. Details of how the collision occurred have not been shared publicly, but authorities believe that this gentleman — who was driving a pickup truck — struck a sedan. The accused, a passenger in his vehicle, the other driver and two passengers in his or her automobile were all transported to an area hospital with unspecified injuries.

After his release from the hospital, the accused was arrested. As of the latest report, this individual has been detained at the Aiken County Detention Center. It is unknown if bond has been set in his case or if any court dates have been scheduled regarding this matter.

While this event occurred on the other side of the state, auto collisions that are thought to be DUI-related occur in the Myrtle Beach area fairly frequently. Those accused of causing such events, regardless of where they live or where the accidents occur, have the right to defend themselves in a South Carolina criminal court. This is not something that they have to do alone, as they have the right to seek out experienced legal counsel to help them with their cases. With the right assistance, those facing felony DUI charges can work to seek a case dismissals or, at least, seek to minimize any potential penalties if they are convicted.
