South Carolina man charged with child pornography

A young man in South Carolina was recently arrested for sex crimes against minors. He is facing child pornography charges now as a result. These charges carry hefty penalties if a conviction is achieved by prosecuting attorneys. As such, this individual would most likely benefit from the assistance of an experienced criminal defense attorney as he works to fight the allegations made against him in court.

The 24-year-old male was taken into custody Dec. 1, in Florence. Authorities claim that this individual was using the internet to download and distribute pornographic images of children. Both the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC) and the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office were involved in the investigation into the matter. The ICAC made the arrest.

The accused was initially being held at the Florence County Detention Center. He has since been released on bond. It is unknown if any court dates have been scheduled in regard to his case.

Any crimes involving child pornography are considered extremely serious offenses in South Carolina. If convicted, this gentleman faces up to 10 years in prison and registration on the Sex Offender Registry — among other potential penalties. In cases that involve digital pornography downloading and distribution, prosecuting attorneys will have to prove that the accused was actually the one responsible for the computer activity — which is not always easy to accomplish. An experienced attorney can thoroughly investigate and question the evidence offered in this case, which could result in information coming to light that will help the accused fight for the best outcome possible.
