A recent accident in South Carolina claimed the lives of three teenage girls. This crash reportedly occurred in the Myrtle Beach area on Dec. 22. The surviving family members of the victims, according to state laws, may be entitled to seek damages through legal means.

According to a local news report, at approximately 3:15 a.m., a pickup truck went off the side of the Bay Road and struck a tree. Authorities say that the occupants of the truck were two 15-year-old females and one 14-year-old female. The driver and one passenger were found trapped in the vehicle, while one passenger was thrown from the truck. All three individuals died at the scene.

At this time, investigators have not determined what may have led to this incident. The investigation is ongoing. No further details are expected to be shared with the public per the families’ requests for privacy.

This was truly a tragic accident, one that has affected families, friends and the community. The untimely deaths of the victims have likely resulted in their surviving family members suffering significantly both emotionally and financially. In accordance with the laws of South Carolina, they may file wrongful death claims against the estate of the deceased driver and the owner of the vehicle — if different — in an effort to seek damages for their losses. The decision to take legal actions under the circumstances of this case can be difficult. However, in doing so, if successful, the victims loved ones can achieve monetary relief for their losses, allowing them to focus on the grieving process and not on financial concerns.
