A young woman in South Carolina has been arrested following a recent fatal crash. She is accused of driving while impaired. As such, she is facing two felony DUI charges.
This accident reportedly occurred in Lyman, the evening of Jan. 20. A 31-year-old woman was driving her SUV southbound on a local road when she is said to have collided with a vehicle in the northbound lane. That car then struck a third vehicle. The driver of the first impacted car — a 53-year-old woman — died at the scene of the crash. A passenger in her car was seriously injured and taken to the hospital for treatment.
The accused was also taken to a medical facility for treatment. After her release, she was arrested and transported to a detention center. Bond has been denied in her case. Court dates regarding this matter have not been reported. This incident is still under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
The felony DUI charges filed in this case are not to be taken lightly. As a result of this incident, if the accused is convicted, the course of her life could be drastically altered.
