When automobile defects cause injury or death, seek compensation

There have been reports about defective airbags in numerous vehicles in the United States and across the globe for quite some time. The Takata airbag is responsible for nearly 200 hundred deaths and numerous injuries. When automobile defects such at this cause injury or death, in South Carolina or elsewhere, victims or their surviving family members may seek compensation for their losses.

According to a recent report, Ford Motor Company is joining the list of auto manufacturers who have had to recall vehicles due to the use of the defective Takata airbags. Approximately 32,000 cars are said to be affected. The vehicles in question are the 2016/2017 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX models and Lincoln Continentals with a 2017 model year.

It is unknown if any injuries or deaths have resulted due to Ford's use of the defective airbags. Those who believe they have been affected have the right to seek damages through legal means. To all others who own the vehicles in which these defective airbags have been installed, getting the part replaced as soon as possible is recommended.

When automobile defects are first discovered, manufacturers have a responsibility to consumers to inform them of the issue and fix it as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, there are usually quite a few people who suffer injuries or even lose their lives before recalls are announced. South Carolina residents who have been negatively affected due to defective auto parts may be entitled to seek compensation for their losses by filing civil claims against the manufacturer and others in the chain of supply who may be considered responsible. Such claims can be challenging to pursue and can take time, but through successful litigation or out-of-court negotiations it is possible to achieve fair and full compensation.
